Carol began fitting and reflocking saddles in 2006 after searching for a solution to her FEI horse Willy's difficult-to-fit back. Carol found that many Custom saddlers had limited selections of saddles available, and often they still left her horses moving incorrectly. Also, the wait time on custom orders could take so long that by the time they were delivered, the horse could have drastically changed shape. Off-the-rack saddles didn't come with the necessary fitting support. So Carol took matters into her own hands and went to England to learn how to fit and reflock saddles herself. . . and that was the birth of Capstone Saddlery.

Prior to starting Capstone Saddlery, Carol earned a M.S. Degree in Engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder and then went on to follow her riding passion, becoming a professional trainer and riding instructor.

Today Carol combines her love for riding with her education in engineering to create a perfect fit for both horse and rider. By understanding correct riding position and balance as well as recognizing the physics behind the balance of the saddle, Carol is able to provide a unique perspective to correct saddle fit.

Carol believes that every horse and rider should have the best opportunities to reach their goals and hopes to contribute to their success by ensuring that their tack is well-fitting and comfortable for the horse and rider.
